Problem:

School dropout rates in the Greater Cederberg exceed 30%, in a region where over 60% of families live below the poverty line and academic support is scarce.

Solution

Participants take part in Cambridge educational programs that run alongside their time in the water, pairing structured academic coursework with the confidence-building already happening through the ocean sessions.

Results

Coursework and ocean time reinforce each other: the discipline and confidence participants build in the water carries into the classroom, and vice versa.
