Water Safety & Swimming Access is a foundational pillar of Friends of Sunwave’s work. We work to ensure that young people in coastal communities can safely access and engage with water environments. In areas where formal swimming education is limited, lack of water safety skills creates serious risks and excludes youth from opportunities tied to sport, wellbeing, and future livelihoods.
This cause provides youth with the essential skills and confidence needed to safely navigate water, opening the door to long-term opportunity.
Objective
The primary objective of Water Safety & Swimming Access is to equip youth with life-saving swimming and water safety skills that reduce risk, enable safe participation in ocean-based activities, and build confidence.
By establishing a strong foundation in water competency, this cause supports broader educational, wellbeing, and leadership outcomes.
